Commotion Ltd: Q3 Company Update

Commotion Ltd: Q3 Company Update

Foreword from our CEO, James Shepherd
As we approach the final quarter of 2025, I'm immensely proud of everything we've achieved this year. The past few months have seen Commotion continue to innovate, inspire, and expand, not only through our exciting new tickit® launches, but also through our growing recognition across both the toy and education sectors.

One of the most exciting developments this quarter has been our move into the toy retail space. Our tickit® range is now reaching more families than ever through a growing network of toy stores across the UK and beyond, helping us to inspire open-ended play in homes as well as classrooms.
At the same time, our European business continues to develop with a strong 20% increase across our European market. We’re strengthening partnerships, expanding our distribution, and building deeper relationships across key markets, a testament to the universal appeal of our products and the passion of our team.

Sustainability, creativity, and learning through play remain at the very heart of everything we do. It has been tremendously rewarding to see our products celebrated for their eco-conscious design and the positive impact they have on children's development worldwide.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our talented team, our dedicated partners, and everyone who continues to champion open-ended play with tickit®. Together, we are shaping a bright and inspiring future for learning through play.

Highlights from Q3

Here's a look back at an inspiring and successful Q3.

Q3 began with a burst of creativity as we welcomed a new wave of thoughtfully designed tickit® educational resources, including our Ombre Habutae Fabric, Seasonal Gem Trees, Easy Hold Shape Mirrors, and the Safari Animal Layer Puzzle. Each of these new additions embodies our mission to inspire learning through play. We are particularly proud that several of these products, the Seasonal Gem Trees, Easy Hold Shape Mirrors, and Safari Animal Layer Puzzle, are FSC certified, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to sustainable, responsibly sourced materials.

In July, we held our first on-location photoshoot of the quarter, an essential part of how we bring the tickit story to life. Our photoshoots are designed to showcase how children naturally engage with our open-ended educational toys and to capture the joyful spontaneity that comes from unstructured play. It's always inspiring to watch the children interact with our products, reminding us that no two play experiences are ever the same and that’s one of the magical things about learning through play!

August brought even more excitement when our tickit Woodland Trail Treehouse, which won Gold in the Eco/Sustainable Toy category and our Sensory Mood Low Discovery Table which won Gold in the Sensory Toys category at the Dadsnet Media Group Awards, received reviews from the Dadsnet toy testers! Read the Woodland Trail Treehouse review here and the Sensory Mood Low Discovery Table review here. A huge thank you to the toy testers and everyone at Dadsne!

We are excited to report that we have also been shortlisted for the TeachCo Awards in Creative play category for our Discovery Glow Mini Tuff Table and the Happy & healthy category for our Whizz Balance Bikes
Watch this space, the winners will be announced in November 2025!

We were thrilled to see tickit featured multiple times across key industry publications this quarter. In Toys 'n' Playthings, our Head of Marketing, Honor Davidson, shared insights into our approach to product innovation: "We at Commotion are continuing to bring our fresh new product ideas to life all year round, and the latest wonderful wooden toys from our in-house tickit brand really do stand apart." Our CEO, James Shepherd, was also featured in Toy World Magazine, discussing our mission to expand brand awareness and ensure that parents and educators recognise tickit not only for quality and design, but as trusted tools for hands-on learning through play. Toy World Magazine also spotlighted our commitment to sustainability in a feature on wooden toys, highlighting that: "Commotion has over 100 FSC-certified wooden lines at its UK warehouse, reflecting the company's ongoing commitment to responsible sourcing and sustainable practices. All wooden lines under the tickit brand are developed with repeated use in mind, made to withstand years of active handling."

We were delighted when the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) shared our story across their LinkedIn channel, celebrating tickit's nature-inspired and sustainably crafted toys. Their post read: "Commotion Ltd's in-house tickit brand is bringing learning outdoors with new sustainably crafted toys. From FSC-certified birch plywood Seasonal Gem Trees to the multi-sensory Safari Animal Layer Puzzle, these hands-on, nature-inspired toys spark curiosity, creativity, and exploration whilst supporting eco-friendly play." At Commotion, we believe that eco-friendly should be the standard in toy design. The planet our children will inherit matters, and we are proud to play our part in making sustainability exciting. Our second photoshoot in August took us outdoors, where a group of mixed-age children explored and played with our Water Wall Bundle and Glow Tables. The shoot perfectly illustrated how tickit products grow with children, adapting to different developmental stages whilst inspiring creativity and curiosity in every environment.

The excitement continued with another feature in Toy World Magazine, which celebrated how our latest launches support outdoor and nature-based learning, perfect for parents and carers looking to take learning beyond the classroom. Meanwhile, Toys 'n' Playthings highlighted our new arrivals across their social channels, including the Discovery Glow Mini Tuff Table, Easy Hold Shape Viewers, and Shape Mirrors. These new FSC-certified products continue our mission to provide engaging, tactile play experiences that promote hands-on learning in a world increasingly dominated by screens.

At the end of September, we were very excited to welcome Alice Sharp to our head office to review and present some of our tickit flagship and new products. This produced a series of energetic videos showcasing the different ways to play and the different educational values of a wide range of products. Keep an eye out on our social channels for these exciting product demonstrations and discussions.

We finished the quarter with the wonderful news that many of our products were finalists in the Progressive Preschool Awards 2025:
Discovery Glow Range in Best STEM / Educational Range
Wooden Building Gem Blocks in Best STEM / Educational Range
SiliSoft Range in Best Infant Development Range
Winners will be announced in November 2025 - fingers crossed!

As we move into the final quarter of 2025, we are excited to continue innovating, inspiring, and building on the strong momentum of this year. From sustainability to thoughtful design - we remain committed to creating toys that encourage exploration, imagination, and inspire learning through play in the early years and beyond. Thank you to our customers and the Commotion team for being part of this exciting year so far. Here's to a bright and playful Q4!
