Wooden and acrylic blocks, colourful rainbow bricks, plastic interlocking blocks and mirrored block sets are all included here to provide a versatile range of construction resources for children. Construction activities cover many areas of the curriculum for children from 18 months to 7 years, providing opportunities for children to work collaboratively (turn-taking, sharing); to use their imagination to create structures of their own design; to improve descriptive and directional language; to develop an awareness of space; and to explore the shape, size, weight of their construction materials, discovering which pieces will and won’t work in the safe creation of their buildings.
